CHLOE JAMES LIFESTYLE CHARITY FASHION SHOW

5 months into the year already! Whoever said ‘Time flies when your having fun’ was absolutely right and I have been having so much fun 2018 is literally flying by!

On 19th April, the sun came out making it the hottest day of the year and 120 guests arrived at Cote restaurant in St Albans for a SOLD OUT Charity Fashion show showcasing Spring/Summer fashion by independent fashion and lifestyle boutique Chloe James Lifestyle. The show was sold out within 48 hours! I had 8 models to make up wearing day to evening apparel. I put together a natural make up look to complement each model using MAC Cosmetics.

Lips were in velvet Teddy and I applied the new Dazzleglass in Go For Gold on top. For the last outfit finale walk down I changed the lipstick to the iconic Ruby Woo also with dazzle glass on top.

I would like to thank MAC Cosmetics Watford who kindly supported me with deluxe samples of their new fantastic 3D Mascara and Strobe Cream! It was like ‘Santa’s Elf workshop' in my house where my two little children helped me make up 120 goody bags with our little production line of leaflets, ingredient cards, business cards etc. I cannot thank MAC Watford enough for their support with my beauty business and they are so helpful and my go to store for MAC Cosmetics.

I am still wowed by the show selling out within 48 hours of release and there was even a waiting list!

Proceeds from the show were split between two charities ‘Look Good Feel Better’ helping people going through treatment for cancer re-gain their confidence through skincare and makeup workshops. I am a volunteer at Mount Vernon hospital and try to help as much as I can with help of friends looking after my children. https://www.lookgoodfeelbetter.co.uk

The other charity was Siobhan’s Fight who is raising funds to help this little girl with essential treatment for Neuronblastoma. https://bradleyloweryfoundation.com/siobhan-mather/

Donna, Owner of Chloe James Lifestyle, put together over 60 outfits for the fashion show!

Her attention to detail is amazing ensuring every model was fitted beforehand with appropriate clothes and matching accessories with a meticulous running order. Donna talked her audience though every outfit as the models walked through the restaurant’s informal catwalk lined with St Albans ladies all wanting a glimpse for her latest fashion collection for inspiration on what to wear. Restaurant diners were intrigued and there was a brilliant atmosphere of ladies chatting and commenting on each outfit as the models went by making a mental note of anything they were interested in!  After the show, guests we invited to a private shopping evening in the boutique which is opposite Cote where they received a preferential shopping discount and a chance to buy outfits that had literally just arrived in time for the show. For more info see www.chloejameslifestyle.com

I set up my make up station on the top floor of the quirky 3 storey shop which reminds me of a mini Liberty of London with its Tudor style look and feel. After a delicious lunch in the sunshine at Cote – who does a fantastic lunch menu, it was all systems go to complete the make up for the show. Stephanie Belton is an amazing photographer who I have worked with on many make up jobs, and on the last 3 fashion shows –her beautiful action photographs captured the atmosphere of the show and the fabulous outfits.

BLACK TIE CHARITY BALL FOR CHRONS AND COLITIS:

Beauty comes in the form of amazing people and I would like to say Thank You and congratulations to an amazing lady - Anne Swanston who organised a fabulous ‘sold out’ charity black tie ball that I was invited to on 28th April.

Anne has raised over £200k for Crohns and Colitis over 10yrs with her hard work in creating awareness of this terrible disease which effects so many people and sadly the number of victims is rising - it was especially sad to hear of the increase in very young children! Her attention to detail and support from her beautiful family ensured we all had a fabulous time at luxury boutique hotel - St. Michaels Manor www.stmichaelsmanor.com

After a champagne reception and 3 course sumptuous dinner with accompanying wines, there was the most moving speeches about the terrible disease.

There was an auction with fantastic prizes to raise money and an amazing magician came around the tables showing us a few tricks that had no explanation! I’m one for logic, however, in this instance I simply could not work it out! Amazing trickery!

We danced the night away with music from super talented band The Push, featuring my talented friend Stacey and her family - they can be seen around Hertfordshire doing weddings, parties and gigs in pubs most weekends. Check out www.lemonrock.com for info.

Anne’s dedication to the charity is truly inspiring and she is an amazing lady💜 if you would like to know more, please contact Anne via Instagram @swanstonanne and @crohnsandcolitisuk

The dress Code was Black Tie and something purple. I managed to find an absolute bargain from @tkmaxx – A full-length navy dress is by W9 London £35!! I customised by adding a strip of Diamante to the dress (I do love a bit of sparkle) and I picked up these matching Michael Kors navy velvet and silver shoes £45! I teamed with a silver Tory Burch clutch and painted my nails using Vinylux polish by CND in Grape Gum and added Dazzle Dance glittery polish on top.

My purple item, along with my nails, was a purple Jane Carr scarf I recently purchased from London Fashion Week. Jane Carr does fabulous printed scarves! I did a smoky eye make up look using a beautiful sparkly grey eye shadow by celebrity make up artist Charlotte Tilbury in Silver Leopard and a swish of the new Mac Dazzle glass lip gloss
